Are you thinking of buying that someone special a new phone for Christmas? If you are a Verizon customer, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that Verizon has some of the best Smartphones on the market and with its high-speed 4G LTE network (the best in the US), you get super fast speeds. The bad news is that Verizon is one of the most expensive carriers in the US. Not only are the monthly plans and data plans more expensive, but the average Smartphone is $100 more than at other carriers. That being said, Verizon does seem to have the least call drops and best coverage, especially in rural areas. Here is Jeffrey Van Camp, DigitalTrends, list of the top 6 Smartphones from Verizon.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus Screen: 4.65-inch Super AMOLED, 7201280 pixels Specs: 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 32GB storage OS: Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Camera: 5MP rear (LED flash, 1080p rec), 1.3MP front Price: $300 (we think) with two-year contract The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is out yet, but it is rumored to be out on December 8th. It will run on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), which means it has a completely revamped user interface, and will one of the only phones that gets updates as they come out instead of waiting months or not even getting updates. It may be worth the wait to get one of these new Smartphones. With a 4.65 inch screen, it will almost seem like a tablet. iPhone 4S Screen: 3.5 inches, 640960 pixels Specs: 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 16/32/64GB storage OS: iOS 5 Camera: 8 MP rear, 0.3MP VGA front Price: $200-$400 with two-year contract If you dont already have the iPhone 4S, what are you waiting for? This version of the iPhone is by far the most feature rich so far. If you are an iPhone fan, you should truly consider this phone. Of course you may want to buy an iPhone 4S Rechargeable Battery Case, which lets you have an additional 1450mAh of battery life when you need it most. Simply charge the case when you charge the iPhone 4S and then when you phone battery goes low, switch over to the external battery in the case. Motorola Droid RAZR Screen: 4.3-inch Super AMOLED, 540960 pixels Specs: 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage OS: Android 2.3 with NinjaBlur Camera: 8MP rear (LED flash, 1080p rec), 1.3MP front Price: $300 with two-year contract Do you remember the original Motorola RAZR with fondness? This newest RAZR bears no similarity to the original, except perhaps that it is thin. According to Jeffrey Van Camp, Its the thinnest phone on the market, but also sports a decent battery, much-improved screen, and a durable frame. The only downsides are Motorolas weak camera and bland interface. Hopefully, when the Razr gets Android 4.0, it will look a little nicer. Still, with fast LTE speeds, the Razr is one of the best phones on the market. HTC Rezound Screen: 4.3-inch S-LCD, 7201280 pixels Specs: 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage OS: Android 2.3 with HTC Sense Camera: 8MP rear (dual-LED flash, 1080p rec), 2MP front Price: $300 with two-year contract The Rezound boasts that it has Beats high-fidelity sound. Dont get too carried away or be too impressed with that boast. You can only get the high-fidelity sound by using the Beats app and special Beats audio ear buds. Otherwise, the sound is reported to be kind of muffled. If you discount the Beats audio feature, the phone is a great dual-core LTE device, with a 7201280 screen, promised Android 4.0 upgrade, and Incredible-like red design. Motorola Droid Bionic Screen: 4.3-inch PenTile LCD, 540960 pixels Specs: 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage OS: Android 2.3 with NinjaBlur Camera: 8MP rear (LED flash, 1080p rec), 0.3MP VGA front Price: $200 with two-year contract Can you say Bionic Extended Battery? The Droid Bionic is the first 4G LTE handset on the market to sport a dual-core processor, and the sleek design follows in the footsteps of the Droid 3 and Droid X2. The biggest problem with the Bionic is the poor battery life. This Smartphone definitely needs an extended battery. HTC Trophy Screen: 3.8-inch LCD, 480800 pixels Specs: 1GHz single-core processor, 576MB RAM, 16GB storage OS: Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) Camera: 8MP rear (LED flash, 1080p rec), 0.3MP VGA front Price: $30 with two-year contract The HTC Trophy is a Windows 7 Phone. As a Windows 7 phone, it lags behind the features of the Android Smartphones and of course the Apple iPhone 4S. Many people like Windows 7 phone interface. If you are one of the fans, this phone is a great deal at only $30. Are you ready to upgrade your Verizon phone? My plan doesnt allow me the upgrade price break for a few more months, but when I do upgrade, I am seriously considering the Samsung Galaxy Nexus or whatever is out then. I have the Motorola Droid X now and do like it, but I am looking at the Nexus with some fondness. Who knows what will be out by then? Perhaps the iPhone 5 will be out. Meanwhile, I can dream
